Clinically Proven Natural Cures and Home Remedies for Pink Eye

There are several home remedies for pink eye that are available at most health food stores, but pink eye and styes are usually caused by bacteria getting into the eye. They are more common when there are small children in the household. In these households, it is very important to keep surfaces as germ free as possible.

Here are some great recipes for disinfecting household surfaces:

    All Natural Disenfectants

Tea Tree oil has antibacterial properties and is good for killing mildew and mold as well as bacteria.

    1/2 tsp. tea tree oil

    2 cups water

    Here's another one:

    1/2 tsp. tea tree oil

    2 tbsp. baking soda

    1 tbsp. borax

    Here's one more:

    3 tbsp. witch hazel

    Large spray bottle

    18 drops lemon essential oil

    7 drops clove essential oil

    4 oz. distilled water

    10 drops thyme essential oil

Spray on, then wipe off. great for counters sinks etc.

If you don't have time to make your own, you can add 1 oz. tea tree oil to any natural spray cleaner from the health food store.

Always try to address the cause of the problem. In the case of pink eye, it's important to disinfect the environment as much as possible.

Here are the home remedies for pink eye that I recommend:

At the top of the list is a product called Pink Eye. The manufacturer is Similisan. Similisan makes several amazing eye products. They are all exceptionally effective, almost always providing immediate relief. One is called Dry Eyes and I use it for a variety of eye issues, including ocular herpes for which it's fantastic.

If you have recurring styes and or pink eye, then it's very important to address the above mentioned sanitation issues and you probably should put some energy into strengthening your immune system as well. Any recurring bacterial problem calls for immune strengthening.

Here is a three part immune building protocol. All three should be in place for healing to be permanent and complete:

    Healing Herbs for Pinkeye

    Immune Building Tea

    1 part Echinacea augustafolia root

    1 part Cat's Claw

    1 part Pau d'Arco

    1 part Astragalus root

    Immune Building/Anti-Bacterial Potion

    Astragalus Supreme from Gaia Herbs

    Echinacea/Goldenseal Supreme from Gaia Herbs

Usnea/Uva Ursi Supreme from Gaia Herbs

The ideal way to utilize these healing herbs is to prepare the tea and spike it with the extracts, but this can be too demanding for some.

There are several other ways to utilize these herbs for healing. Click here and scroll down for guidelines on preparation and utilization.Reminder:
the key to healing Pinkeye lies in sanitizing the environment.

Additional Home Remedies for Pink Eye (helpful, but not necessary):

    Juicing

Here is a great immune building juice recipe:

    5 carrots

    2 stalks celery

    1/2 clove garlic

    1/2 bunch parsley

    Here's one more:

    2 yellow peppers

    3 oranges

    2 apples

    2 pears

    1/2 grapefruit

If you use either of these juices for your PowerUp health and energy drink, you’ll be flyin’ I call this the double whammy. See Juicing page for triple whammy and additional guidelines on juicing.

Reminder: When you undertake a holistic protocol for a particular ailment, the remedies will have side benefits such as increased energy and other improvements in overall well being.

    Aromatherapy

Inhale a blend of equal parts of rose geranium oil, tea tree oil, and eucalyptus
    oil.

    See aromatherapy section.

These home remedies for pink eye are fantastic, but remember, for recurring problems, disinfect and build immunity.
