Home Remedies for Colds that Work!
Home remedies for colds abound. There are so many ways to address a cold naturally, but I will focus on those with which I have personal and professional experience. Almost everyone gets a cold every now and then, but if you get colds frequently, your immune system needs work. Either way, whether once in a while or frequent, the home remedies for colds are the same. Colds come about when one is exposed to the primary cause, a rhino-virus that is easily passed from one individual to another. Overexposure to cold/rain in the environment can leave one particularly vulnerable to the rhino-virus. Close quarters during the onset of cold weather, particularly in day care centers and schools is an ideal environment for the rhino-virus to spread. Children are especially vulnerable to catching cold as their immune systems are not fully developed. In order to heal a cold, we focus on home remedies for colds that serve to strengthen and build the immune system. The same home remedies for colds that build immunity will also eliminate the symptoms. | It is commonly thought that a cold must “run its course” and that little can be done to speed up the healing process. Nothing could be further from the truth. If you implement my home remedies for colds and get plenty of rest, you should be over the hump within 24 hours. | Essential Holistic Protocol and Home Remedies for Colds My approach to healing virtually any health problem is a simple three part protocol. These three pieces should be in place in order for your healing to be complete and permanent. My natural acne treatment plan involves the following:
Healing Herbs for Colds
Immune Building Tea
1 part Echinacea Augustifolia 1/2 part Cat's Claw 1/2 part Pau D'arco 1/2 part Astragalus root Herbal Potion for Colds GAIA Herbs Echinacea/Goldenseal Supreme
| The ideal way to utilize these healing herbs is to prepare the tea and spike it with the extracts, but this can be too demanding for some. There are several other ways to utilize these herbs for healing. Click here and scroll down for guidelines on preparation and utilization.
Reminder: the key to healing colds lies in strengthening the immune system. Additional Types of Alternative Medicine for Colds (helpful, but not necessary):
JuicingOne of the most powerful types of alternative medicine for acne is the juice of fresh squeezed fruits and vegetables. Here is a juicing recipe with powerful immune building properties:

Immune Builder 2 carrots bunch of parsley 2 stalks celery 1/2 clove garlic
|
If you use either of these juices for your PowerUp health and energy drink, you’ll be flyin’ (I call this the double whammy. See Juicing page for triple whammy and additional guidelines on juicing). Reminder: When you undertake a holistic protocol for a particular ailment, the remedies will have side benefits such as increased energy and other improvements in overall well being.
ReflexologyOn the bottom of the foot, the adrenal areas are located in the middle of the foot approximately one inch from the inner edge. Massage this area five minutes per day on each foot. You may have to press down kinda hard and wiggle your thumb around till you find the point. You’ll know you’ve found it when you feel a twinge of pain (sorry). Click here and scroll down for chart.
Homeopathy
For children, I recommend Hyland's Cough 'n Cough remedy. Very effective, with immediate symptomatic relief. Although this is a children's remedy, I also recommend it for adults. Works just as well. You just have to take more.
Other homeopathic remedies include:
Allium Cepa 30c Aconite 30c Take as directed on package. See homeopathy page.
