Home remedies for Arthritis that Work!

In order to institute the proper home remedies for arthritis, it is necessary to understand what is causing the problem. Arthritis, like asthma, is actually an allergic reaction to foods and liquids that the body is not designed to digest. The primary triggers of arthritis are dairy products, red meat and white flour products with the greatest culprits being ice cream and pasta made from white flour.

Cow's milk was made for baby cows, not people. We are not designed to digest it. It is responsible for much of what's wrong with our health. Continuing to consume it will neutralize your home remedies for arthritis. Cow's milk destroys five different systems in the body:

  • the cardiovascular system by depositing plaque on the arterial walls (leading to heart disease and stroke)
  • the respiratory system by creating mucous (asthma, sinus and bronchitis)
  • the digestive system by attempting to assimilate lactose and casein, a substance in cows milk that is highly toxic to humans (diarrhea, constipation, stomach problems)
  • the joints by depositing acidic waste into them (arthritis, bursitis)
  • the skin because the liver and kidneys cannot process it (boils, rashes, eczema, hives)

Remember folks, if you wake up feeling poorly on Monday, the first question you should ask yourself is what did I eat on Sunday? Arthritic food reactions usually appear within 24 hours. This page will provide you with helpful home remedies for arthritis, but the offending foods must be eliminated for healing to be complete and permanent.

The Reflexology Clinic shares the following from their Newsletter archives (reflexology is another effective home remedy for arthritis): Arthritis is considered to be any abnormality of a joint with heat, pain & inflammation.

Arthritis puts stress on the body that is often in a highly acidic state due to a large quantity of acid waste material (uric acid) which affects the bony structure of the body because it is not being eliminated properly from the system. Acid waste material collects in the joints causing swelling & in some cases can even cause complete calcification & deformity because of the erosive action.

So an important home remedy for arthritis is to change your body's pH balance to a more alkaline state by consuming less acid producing foods and more alkaline producing foods.

Here is a chart that lists foods that are both alkaline and low on the glycemic index (not too sweet as all sweets are acidic):

Sprouted grains /Grapes/Pears/Sprouted grain bread/ Spelt/Buckwheat/Cherries/Peaches/Stevia/Oranges/Yams/Apples/Carrot juice/Apricots/Carrots/Grapefruit/Cauliflower/Strawberries/Eggplant/Lemon/Garlic/Lime/Onions/Pomegranate/Tomatoes/Coconut milk/Sprouts/Sesame seeds/All Green veggies/Chicory (sweetener)/Black eyed peas/Lentils/Navy beans/Butter beans/Garbanzo beans/Adzuki beans/Mung beans/Soybeans/Tofu

By the way, there is another category of foods which can trigger allergic, arthritic reactions. If you suffer from arthritis, I suggest that you experiment to see if you may be allergic to them. Referred to as deadly nightshades, these include tomatoes, green/red peppers, potatoes and eggplant.

Once your changes in diet and your home remedies for arthritis have healed you, you may be able to have an occasional dairy based ice cream treat or white flour pasta or bread, but why go there when there are at least a half dozen brands of delicious dairy free ice creams available as well as a dozen brands of whole grain pastas and breads? All are at Whole Foods.

Another important home remedy for arthritis is a healthy colon. Arthritis and constipation tend to go hand in hand. Your bowels must move at least once a day, preferably twice a day, for your arthritis to go away. Fresh fruit in the morning and salad in the evening are critical home remedies for arthritis. Not only will these foods provide the roughage and fiber necessary for healthy bowel function, raw foods are the only ones that produce systemic enzymes, critical for healing arthritis. In fact, enzymes play an important role in almost all bodily systems and functions. So foods such as salad and fruit are also home remedies for arthritis.

Here are my three home remedies for arthritis. All three should be in place for healing to be permanent and complete:

    Healing Herbs for Arthritis

    The herbs in this tea will cleanse toxins from the joints and remove allergens from your bloodstream. Many arthritics find that their pain and inflammation are seriously reduced after drinking this tea for some time. It is not an overnight cure, but provides long term relief and healing. It is one of my most important home remedies for arthritis.

    Cleansing Tea

    1 part Red Clover

    1/2 part Dandelion Root (raw)

    1/2 part Burdock Root

    1/2 part Milk Thistle Seed

    Arthritis Potion

    HerbPharm

    Flexible Joint Compound

    Additional Herbs

    Zyflammed by New Chapter
    St. Johnswort Supreme by Gaia

At the same time that you are healing your arthritis, you will be cleansing and building your liver and blood due to the side benefits of the tea.

The ideal way to utilize these healing herbs is to prepare the tea and spike it with the extract, but this can be too demanding for some.

    External Home Remedies for Arthritis

    Here are several helpful home remedies for arthritis to be used externally. Any and all recommended home remedies can be obtained at any health food store. Don't be discouraged if you don't have success right away. At least one of these home remedies for arthritis is bound to work.

    Arnicare Cream has a soothing effect and is preferred for use on sensitive areas. It works well for sore muscles and joints. Temporarily relieves muscle/joint pain and stiffness. Reduces pain and swelling.

    DMSO cream DMSO is a simple chemical made from wood pulp that penetrates the skin and and has demonstrated the ability to promote the healing of pockets of inflammation. For many years arthritis, tendonitis and bursitis sufferers have reported tremendous pain relieving benefits and vastly improved range of motion derived from the topical application of DMSO to afflicted areas.

    Dr. Schulze's Deep Tissue Ointment soothes your muscles and joints with a deep-penetrating formula that increases circulation to sore muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints and bones.     Castor Oil Apply the oil and massage the skin in circular and up/down or sideways strokes, which will increase absorption by the skin.     Internal Home Remedies for Arthritis

    Black Cherry Juice Drink two glasses of black cherry juice (four ounces of juice diluted with four ounces of water) twice a day. You can discontinue consumption of the juice once the pain subsides. Eat cherries which have been kept cool and moist, and which have a deep maroon, mahogany, red, or black color. Cherries have anti-inflammatory properties which help reduce the symptoms of gout & arthritis.

Reminder:
the key to healing Arthritis lies in cleansing toxins and allergens from the blood, joints and liver.

Additional Types of Alternative Medicine and Home Remedies for Arthritis (helpful, but not necessary):

    Juicing

    Here is a great juice recipe for toxin/allergen removal, one of the most important home remedies for arthritis:

    Blood, Liver and Joint Cleansing

    One of the most powerful types of alternative medicine for cleansing is the juice of fresh squeezed fruits and vegetables.

    Here is a juicing recipe with powerful cleansing properties(tastes good too):

    fresh mint or basil

    1 carrot

    2-3 celery sticks

    apple

    Here’s one more

    not quite as effective as above, but really quick and simple:

    2-5 pears

    Just cut them up and juice.

    Reflexology

    Using a reflexology chart, locate the points on the bottom of the foot that correspond to the painful areas on the body. Massage these spots with your thumb using a small circular motion for five minutes a day on each foot.

    You may have to press down kinda hard and wiggle
    your thumb around till you find the point. You’ll know you’ve
    found it when you feel a twinge of pain (sorry).

    Homeopathy

    Dr Frank’s Joint and Muscle Pain Relief Oral Spray is a gentle non-prescription homeopathic remedy that is sprayed several times daily under the tongue to help relieve chronic joint and muscle pain and stiffness.

    Aromatherapy

    Add a few drops each of rosemary, marjoram and ginger to your bath water.

    Here is an essential oil rub for sore joints:

    Eucalyptus ............. 2 drops

    Lavender .............. 10 drops

    Wintergreen ............ 6 drops

    Dilute the essential oils 50/50 with a carrier oil (such as almond, borage, flaxseed or jojoba oil) and rub into joints. Best if applied
    as a warm compress (add oils to hot water, dip cloth, squeeze
    out excess and apply to affected area).

These home remedies for arthritis are amazingly effective, but I must stress again the importance of eliminating the offending foods. If you follow the dietary recommendations and are consistent with your health drink and herbs, you will heal.
