Holistic First Aid Kit

An holistic first aid kit is an absolute essential for those of us who do not want to take toxic medications. More importantly, there are natural trauma remedies that are infinitely more effective than those found in conventional first aid kits and they come with no side effects (only side benefits).

There are two remedies in my holistc first aid kit that I am never without. The first and most important is Arnica. Arnica Montana is an herb that grows in mountainous areas that is used for blows, bruises, sprains, strains and injuries. It works instantaneously and will relieve the most agonizing pain from an injury in seconds, often removing it entirely. I have given it to people that have been semi-conscious, lying in the street after an auto accident or in an emergency room and I have seen them sit up and feel normal within sixty seconds. One guy even got up and tried to pick up the motorcycle he was riding when he got hit. It is the single most important item in your holistic first aid kit.

There are two primary forms in which you can purchase arnica, the most important being the homeopathic pellets that are dissolved under the tongue. The other form is the cream that is applied directly to the painful area (not on broken skin). I prefer the Nelson's Arnica Cream, manufactured in Europe by one of the original homeopathic companies from the nineteenth century.

If Nelson's is not available, any arnica cream such as Traumeel will suffice. Gels are also available, but they are not as effective as the creams. When purchasing the pellets, buy the 200ck strength. Arnica works best when the pellets and cream are used together, but in an emergency, the pellets alone deliver awesome results.

When in pain, take three to five pellets, as directed on the tube, every few hours. No food or drink except water, 15 minutes before or after. Apply the cream, as directed on the tube, twice a day.

Once you experience significant relief, gradually cut back on the number of doses per day. It's important to take your health and energy drink 3-4 times a day and to eat pure, whole foods as well. If you implement these measures, your healing will be much quicker and more complete.

The other remedy in my holistic first aid kit that I am never without is the Rescue Remedy. The Rescue Remedy is a blend of 7 flower essences. The art of using flowers for healing, particularly emotional healing, was developed during the nineteenth century by a physician, Samuel Bach.

The Rescue Remedy is for trauma of any kind. I always use it for emergencies, often in conjunction with Arnica. It has a powerful, instantaneous calming effect and enhances the body's adaptogenic responses. It comes in a liquid form that ideally is sipped in water (5 drops as directed on the bottle), but in an emergency the drops can go directly under the tongue or can be applied to the temples and or inner wrists.

So these are the two most important remedies in your holitic first aid kit to be used for injuries and trauma. But there are many other natural remedies that should be included in your holistic first aid kit, especially while traveling. All of the remedies listed below are available in the health food store. Take as directed on package:

Asthma attack: Inhale a few drops of eucalyptus oil. Take Rescue remedy.

Heart attack: 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper in a glass of water.

Of course, you want to include the customary bandages, etc. If traveling in snake infested areas, make sure you include a snake bite kit available in most pharmacies.

This is your basic holistic first aid kit. With it, you are well fortified against the unexpected and unforseen.
