Healthy Foods to Eat - You Are What You Eat!

Well folks, healthy foods to eat may not be your favorite topic of the day, but any program that attempts to build health must start with sound nutrition. But not to worry. Once you experience the transformational results from your new healthy foods to eat, you WILL be motivated to go the the next level.

The reason that this page is the longest one on my website is because you can take all of the healing herbs and nutrients in the world, but if you don’t clean up what you eat and introduce healthy foods to eat into your lifestyle, then your healing will not be complete or permanent.

All disease starts on the plate and in the colon.

Much of the food that fills our supermarket shelves, corner stores and fast food restaurants is highly processed and denatured. The nutrients have been removed to prolong the shelf life. Coffee, red meat, sodas, candy, and white flour products not only fail to give the body what it needs, they actually cause many problems such as skin problems, arthritis and asthma.

Remember, these are all involved in causing health problems
    and outbreaks of every kind:

    • red meat
    • junk food
    • fast food
    • coffee
    • sodas
    • candy
    • pastries
    • greasy fried foods
    • white flour
    • white rice
    • white sugar

That's why it's critical that you shop in the health food store. Otherwise, it's very difficult to incorporate healthy foods to eat into your life. I'm not saying it's impossible to eat healthfully from the supermarket, but your choices there are very limited.

Today's health food wonderlands such as Whole Foods (close to 200 stores nationwide) allow you myriad opportunities to implement your healthy foods to eat with no limitations. Your choices are as varied as the supermarket shopper's. And your shopping experience will be so much more pleasant with the awesome aromas, food and flower displays, natural healing and body care centers, book sections and delicious and nutritious prepared foods. But even at Whole Foods, you must read labels.

Beware of granulated cane juice, it is sugar.

Beware of sugar, period. It is impossible to have a healthy diet if you eat sugar regularly. White, refined sugar is a drug. I spell it C-R-A-C-K! Its molecular structure is very similar to that of cocaine. It shoots you up, gives you a brief period of hyperactivity which you think is energy, but which is an illusion, and then drops you down.

Crashing off of sugar is the same as crashing off of any drug: ravenous hunger and uncontrollable sweet cravings, fatigue, exhaustion, irritability, depression, confusion and hostility are but some of the behaviors associated with the use of sugar.

If you must have sugar, try
to eat it in the middle of the
    day with some protein; not
at night or in the morning.

If you eat it at night or in
    the morning, you are set-
ting yourself up for a bad
    day.
    If you wake up tired
    and depressed, you had su-
    gar the night before.

Almost all depression and bi-polar behavior is linked to sugar. I have seen sugar ruin lives as with street drugs, and I have even considered starting a recovery program for sugar addicts.

I repeat, you cannot have healthy foods to eat and consume sugar on a regular basis. By the way, brown sugar is nothing but white sugar with a little molasses. It must be honey, rice syrup, date sugar, natural maple syrup, agave, or Yakon syrup.

Your body is designed to digest these natural sweeteners, so they will not affect you in the same way as refined white sugar. And they taste wonderful! Does this mean you have to give up all the things you love in order to have healthy foods to eat? Heck, no! But you must make the effort to develop healthy versions that will satisfy and delight you without killing you at the same time.

Remember, the results of continuous consumption of this
un-healthy diet with its overly sugared, overly salted, overly chemicalized foods are:

    • allergies
    • yeast problems
    • suppressed immunity
    • weakened respiratory system
    • weakened digestive system
    • weakened nervous system
    • weakened urinary system
    • weakened cardiovascular system
    • weakened reproductive system

and a host of physical and mental ill-
nesses, including inappropriate, self destructive behavior.

You must either prepare healthy foods yourself or you can find healthy foods already prepared at the local health food store or natural foods restaurant. See our recipe page for healthy, delicious versions of the foods you know and love.

If you are constantly on the go with no time to cook, here are some suggestions on how to maintain a healthy diet: You can usually find a fairly healthy meal at most Asian restaurants, some even have brown rice. Eat at health food stores and salad eateries such as Fresh Choice.

Healthy foods to eat can mean the difference between life and death. Since everything that goes into the system either builds health or suppresses it, it's crucial to give serious thought to everything that passes your lips. Now it's not necessary to totally revolutionize your diet overnight, unless you are gravely ill, but the fast foods, junk foods, greasy foods have to go, even if it’s a gradual process.

Keep fresh fruit handy for breakfast. If you have the time, add it to some naturally sweetened granola with some hemp, soy, almond or rice milk. Mmmm!

No dairy! Cow's milk is for baby cows.

It has twice the protein of human milk and we are not designed to digest it. It is one of the primary causes of skin problems, joint problems, respiratory problems and digestive problems. It has no place in a healthy diet.

There is nothing better than a bowl of homemade soup, a slice of fresh baked whole grain bread and a refreshing garden salad with a delicious healthy dressing. It's that simple. All you have to do is make just a minimal effort to have healthy foods to eat. And you don't have to be a purist about it. If your diet is just 75% pure, your body will handle the other 25%.

And here's a piece of welcome news: incorporating these healthy foods to eat into your regimen is also the best way to lose weight. The secret to losing weight and keeping it off forever, as I have done (it's been thirty years since I lost it), is to EAT HEALTH FOOD! Click here for everything you need to know about how to lose it and never gain it back!

It is not necessary to become a vegetarian to have healthy foods to eat, but a plant based diet is infinitely better for you than a meat based diet.

The average American has over five pounds of undigested meat in the colon, where all disease starts.

This undigested flesh putrifies in the colon, causing bad breath, acne, body odor, indigestion, headaches and constipation. Later, it hardens into "tire rubber" pushes the colon out of shape and causes colo-rectal cancer and other serious diseases.

If you must have meat, stick to chicken, turkey and fish as they are easier to digest than red meat and pork. Pork, I don't even want to talk about the nasty, filthy pig. Read How to Eat to Live by the Honorable Elijah Muhammed. If you do eat meat, it must come from the health food store. Later, I will devote an entire section of this website to how animals are raised, treated and slaughtered for consumption by humans. It's not pretty, and once you know, I guarantee you you'll think twice.

Our ancestors consumed natural, whole foods that saturated the body tissues with high quality nutrients, the basic building blocks that the body uses to function and heal.

Without the correct amounts of vitamins, minerals, enzymes, amino acids, roughage and fiber, the body will cease to function normally and physical/mental/spiritual imbalances will occur, resulting in diseased states.

Most of the foods we recommend are available in any health food store. Some are available in the supermarket. Give the healthy foods a chance. Some will seem strange, and it will take some effort to get the knack of whole foods preparation. But you must incorporate healthy foods to eat into your life if healing is to take place.

Remember, here is what constitutes healthy foods to eat:

      Whole Grains

    • brown rice
    • millet
    • oats
    • quinoa
    • amaranth
    • bulghur
    • barley
    • whole wheat
    • Legumes

    • beans
    • peas
    • potatoes
    • nuts
    • seeds
    • lentils

Eliminate as much of the sugar and other negative foods as possible and introduce as many healthy foods as you can. Fresh fruit in the morning, salad in the evening are essential. Drink lots of spring water and pure juice. Lots of simple one pot meals (stews, soups, casseroles) like Grandma used to make.

You will find that products in the health food stores cost more than in the supermarkets. This is due to the greater care that goes into their preparation so that the nutritional content can be preserved. But as you cut down on expensive red meats and other items, you will find that the costs will even out. There are many low income folks who eat nothing but whole foods.

If you stick to the basics, and leave the convenience foods more or less alone, you will find that healthy foods to eat can be in your life, no matter what your income. It’s not about money, it's about effort.

One dollar's worth of fresh garlic can do wonders.

Garlic is one of the most powerful medicines known to man. It is immune building, antibiotic, anti-fungal, anti-viral and anti-bacterial. It cleanses the blood, lowers blood pressure and provides energy.

Making sure you have healthy foods to eat means an investment more of time than money. Your kitchen is your healing laboratory. You must spend significant time there if you want to heal. This can be a pain, but the results of stepping onto the path of the natural way are so monumental, so transformational, that it's crazy not to try.

So cut down on denatured foods that drain and deplete the body of needed nutrients, clog up the colon, cause mucous, toxify the body, cause myriad diseases and create erratic blood sugar levels; often an underlying factor in diabetes, depression and inappropriate behavior. And bring on the whole, natural, organic delights bursting with life and flavor.

I'm not just talking about feeling better or having more energy. I'm talking about having a LIFE! Not an existence, a LIFE!

No longer dragging yourself out of bed in the morning, unable to function without the coffee, the cigarette, or the doughnut. I'm talking about jumping out of bed, raring to go, ready to face the day with a positive, energetic approach, no matter what it may hold.

This will be the ultimate outcome of your journey, the big payoff that will make you rejoice in your new found energy, vitality and glowing good health!
